Ladakh Explored

Ladakh sits between rugged mountains and vast grasslands, tucked into the very north of India it was once the centre of the caravan trade route between Punjab and central Asia. Tibetan Buddhist monasteries protrude from the mountainsides in shocks of white, housing century-old frescoes and providing harmony for nuns and monks.

OVERVIEW

Ladakh offers visitors stunning vistas, an array of monasteries and a rich mountain culture. Spend time in Leh, Ladakh’s largest town, prayer flags in primary colours contrast against the pale stupas and houses. Journey into the Nubra Valley for an untouched wilderness where snow-capped peaks juxtapose against undulating sand dunes, here enjoy a camel safari on a double-humped Bactrian camel.

Visit an array of monasteries including Thiksey, Shey and Hemis. Traverse the Chang La Pass, the third highest road in the world towards the beautiful Pangong Lake, enjoy an evening stroll and watch the colours change as the sun goes down.

Ladakh is also home to many crafts, visit a pashmina weaving centre, spend time with a local family and learn how to cook some local dishes and visit the copper artisans in Chilling to participate in a workshop to learn more about this traditional craft.
